Background
Bhavani Island is a recreational space on Krishna River, Vijayawada. The island is an active space, offering water sports and cultural activities to visitors.
This particular site on the island was silent space that had a direct view of the water. It is surrounded by activity spots like an amphitheatre, play areas, seating space and a musical installation. This space's character stands out in aspects like seclusion and privacy, with its limited seating and lack of designated activities.

Design Intervention - Ideations
'Pause, Privacy and Waterscape' were the characters of the space which stood out the most. We chose to exaggerate and enhance these features of the space through a simple design intervention.
Low Fidelity Scale Models
High Fidelity Scale Model (1:40)
The proposed design intervention consists of an elevated mound to enhance the view of the waterscape. Stone platforms at various heights of the mound serve as steps and seating.
A brick jaali structure adds to the sense of privacy in that space and also creates an interesting play of light and shadow.
